It's obvious you've never lived in real cold. I spent 19 years in Minneapolis and survived to tell you that people have indeed died while running down to the corner for a pack of smokes.

It is not an urban legend. Twenty below with wind can easily hit a wind chill of fourty below zero. Fourty below zero will kill you if unprotected in about 15 minutes.

as bad as summer can get here in houston (which wasn't bad this year, only hit 100 for about an hour this summer), i would hate freezing my ass off even more. air conditioning can fix heat, but snow can only be pushed around every couple of hours

and golf on new years day is awesome
