It's 11:10 here. Still got another 50 minutes to waste.

Except I just finished off a big bowl of spagetti and pop tarts.

gargle salt water

I've heard it helps, don't really know

If you REALLY want to sleep, hit yourself on the head with a hammer ;)

I have tried a lot of the things mentioned in this thread. Nothing seems to help. It seems better during the day, but crappy at night.

When I cant sleep, I turn the air conditioner up really high in my room. Then it gets cold enough that I can actually crawl under some heavy blankets. This puts me right under every time.

Hmm, I can't sleep cuz my legs are burning. Wish the itching would stop for just a little while so I could close my eyes :|

Yes, salt water helps. Just get some salt and pour some in some warm water. Stir and gurgle. Don't put too much cuz it'll burn, lol.

Assuming you don't have strep throat, or don't mind that you have strep throat, have you tried combining several things for maximum results? Such as, gargle w/salt water, spray on some chloraseptic and take a few motrin, that ought to put a dent in the pain. Toss back a Nyquil while you're at it that should make you sleepy.

I have tried the following:

salt water gargle
warm honey
chloraseptic spray

I have some amoxicillin pills left that I have started to take that I got from my doctor a few months ago.

Oh... well you might have heard this before, but you need to take the entire course of antibiotics otherwise instead of killing off the bacteria, you just temporarily weaken it and it comes back stronger than ever :frown: As far as I can tell the only time it's OK to take less than the full prescription is if the doctor changes the meds when the 1st is not effective, but then you finish off the newer prescription & kill it off that way.

Meanwhile, try a heavy dose of whatever works best for you normally in the pain killer dept, like motrin, tylenol or aspirin.

Do you have a fever?

Gittyup - here's some info on strep throat. Part of the treatments mentioned would be applicable to any sore throat (except the antibiotics, which are not useful for sore throat with a viral origin).

How long has this been going on???

BTW: Get to a doc! It doesn't sound like this will go away without medical intervention.
