It's 10pm, do you know where your TIM is?

I got in my Ceramique today and put it to good use on my video card and CPU. I also did Insane3d's NB and SB mods to my NF7-S. Boy was I shocked when I pulled off some of my heatsinks. The northbridge was awful! There was hardly any grease on it. It appeared to have been applied with one of those ketchup guns from McDonalds with a few nozzles clogged. In addition, it appeared to be a very watery substance, unlike Ceramique which is rather thick and dry. No wonder the NB chip gets so hot. The chip IS concave as many have said. I applied a thin layer of AS adhesive to the chip and fitted the heatsink. I picked the heatsink back up to see if there was any in the center and it was still clean. Fortunately I mixed up enough epoxy to apply a thicker layer in the middle.

The video card, a PNY 64 meg Ti4200, fared better, as there was sufficient grease to cover the whole heatsink. (Sorry about the picture, I forgot to put the camera in macro mode). It was similar to Ceramique in consistency. The card already overclocks like a champ, but I can't leave well enough alone. 😉

It's an allusion to the old "it's 10pm, do you know where your kids are?" Do you know what they're doing? Do you know if your TIM is doing anything? 😉
