"Item has been deactivated" new eVGA 6800GT AGP retail for $269.00 after 30 mail in rebate

Oh man, over the past month the formerly glacial video card prices have really started jumping up and down. Just as soon as one deal ends another begins. Maybe I'll get this one even though it's more than my video card budget. Shee-at, that's a good price!

This is getting to become similar to the RAM prices...how low can it go...when to buy...will there be a better deal tomorrow? It almost feels like playing the stock market.

But the price drop pertains more to AGP than PCI-E. PCI-E cards' prices are ridiculous.

well, these are the best cards for agp since they are native agp without damn adapters or whatever they call em. This price is awesome, the moment I've been waiting for. I'd only consider a 6800gt/ultra or an x800xt agp card at this point for my nf3 9nda3+ based system.

Off-topic: If you need 5+ pci slots on your mobo, nforce3 and its obligatory agp are still as good as it gets. I guess there are these things called Magma chassis that people are using to expand there systems with more pci slots, and they apparently work great. I guess thats a good option down the road when mobo makers start feeding us mobo's with 1 PCI slot. I just wish more pci-express cards were actually being developed and made besides video cards and your random ethernet or raid card.

eephus - different coolers, i think the leadteks is better and quieter, but don't quote me on that, otherwise i think they are the same essentially in terms of chipset and ram (2.0 ns), 1.6 ns RAM is on the ultras I think

call me crazy, but I'm regretfully passing on this, I demand dual-dvi connectors, so I'om gonna wait till 6800 ultra dips below $300, what discipline i have

Thanks arswihart!

Quiet = better on my front. Bedroom = office = wife sleeping while I play. 🙂

excellent price!

to bad there is a limit on how many you can purchase..
(limit 9999 per customer) heh

Damn I put one in my cart, and I was going to order when I got back from basketball; too slow I guess. I can only hope this is the start of a trend, and we'll start seeing the 6800GT's drop to $275 range or that Nvidia is getting ready to launch the next gen.

I'm upgrading my 2.6 GHz P4 / 512 MB RAM / GeForce 5200 FX rig this summer, and for sure I'm getting 1 Gig of either Corsair or Kingston RAM and at least a 6800 or x800. My ceiling is pretty much $350. I've done some research and it seems the x800 XL (for the price) outperforms the 6800, x800 Pro and 6800GT, in all major games except Doom 3, which is to be expected. It also surprisingly keeps up with the x850. Would I be better off taking an x800 XL for $250-300 tops, or look to see how far the 6800 GT drops?

This card is great. It overclocks to ultra speeds with no problem. Even further now that I have a Zalman cooler.

I got mine for $270 several months ago from Microcenter since it was an open box return... 🙂
