Itching to upgrade.. but should I wait for P45?

Right now I have a Gigabyte P965-DS3 with an E6420@2.8GHz. I plan on getting the Q9450 once it is released and at the same time would like to upgrade my motherboard. I plan on carrying over everything else I have in my system.

As I'm already waiting a month for the Q9450.. I could pick up a P35 board (was thinking an Asus P5K-E) in the meantime, or wait an additional month and get the Q9450 and P45 board at the same time.

Any thoughts?

I think it would be pretty easy to get burned with 1) a premium on the initial purchase price for new boards and 2) stability/reliability issues (immature BIOS, drivers, etc).

IMO, P35 is pretty good and I don't see P45 shaking it up a whole lot for most people. I'm quite happy with my P5K-E/WiFi, in all it's non PCI-E 2.0, DDR2, single-GPU glory. 😉

Well.. I caved and got the Q6600(for $200, I couldn't resist) today along with the ABIT IP35 Pro(though I might get a DS3R instead).. 😱
