Ok, maybe you no longer have to order parts (non-drivetrain) from Australia, but still they are not as readily available as something like a Malibu. I'm sure it will get better since more upcoming cars are being based on Australian platforms now, like the G8 and Camaro.
Definitely not as readily available. I'd say the reality is, long term (like when these are collectors, if ever) parts availability WILL be an issue. Yes they are based on Holden cars that have been in production longer, but I'm sure there are a large number of unique parts for the GTO and with only a 3 year run, they will be hard to come by.

Hell, the dealer optional Sport Appearance Package parts went out of production (supplier issue) and now just the two little front kidney-shaped grills that were MSRP like $250 are now going $600+ on eBay.

Parts for the realistic life of the car for your average owner should not be an issue. My $0.02

Ok, so the GTO owners no longer have to go to Australia for parts (because there aren't any more?), but the parts are becoming very expensive because they are rare. That doesn't seem any better.

The part I referenced was made by a supplier that either went bankrupt or GM cut the relationship with. It is not a standard part of the car, but was an optional set of body appearance pieces. All other GTO parts ARE available.

Are you this dense or are you just being difficult?

i have an 06 Brazen Orange Metallic myself. i LOVE this car and couldn't recommend it enough. insurance isnt that bad. pretty much any new car will have high insurance compared to something that 5-10 years old. im paying $580ish every 6 months for full coverage. someone said the ls2 is premium only, thats not true. premium is recommended but there are two timing tables in the computer, one for 91+ and another for regular 87. i only use 91 or higher of course 🙂 parts wise, the main differences between the gto and the monaro are the front and rear facias. sheet metal is the same, most everything else is too. dont expect the availablity and selection of a ford mudstain which are a dime a dozen but i dont think parts will ever be a significant issue. i can still get plenty of parts for my 87 buick grand national and its 20 years old now and also a limited production car. more gto's were made than gn's. im not worried. just my two cents.

i said its not required, but that its recommended (there is a giant sticker on my gas filler door that says premium RECOMMENDED). you are right, the manual states regular can be used with reduced performance because it uses a lower timing table. i was just tossing out some info incase someone is a penny pincher and would rather use the 87 gas. which isnt that bad if you drive "normal" i suppose. i however, put my foot down every chance i get and thus use 91 🙂

It is an option, but hopefully an LS2 owner would realize that the extra $3.20 (figure $0.20 more per gallon, GTO fills up with about 16 gallons) yields better gas mileage AND performance. Although, stupid people are everywhere.

😉

That's a question. See the question mark? Is it possible to answer a question without being an ass?
