"Fat of up to 60 bodies used in Italian cosmetics

FOUR people have been arrested in Peru on suspicion of killing some 60 people to sell their fat and other human tissue to Italian co-conspirators for cosmetic use in Europe.

The suspects were arrested in central Peru this month and a search is under way for seven others - including two Italian citizens whose names were not revealed - lead prosecutor Jorge Sans Quiroz said.

The fat was purchased "to be commercialised in European (cosmetology) laboratories," he said."

so i guess if you get tired of an old tube of lipstick or some out-of-fashion rouge, you can use it to oil the frying pan ?

Wouldn't there be thousands of people willing to get free liposuction? Or do they have to kill the person to get the fat?

It's probably a lot cheaper to butcher poor people in peru than perform surgery to get the fat.

Organ harvesting is where the real money is. Once brain transplants are perfected you can guarantee there will be body farms springing up all over the place.

I don't think liposuction costs 16K, so they'd still come out ahead.

EDIT this reminds me of Fight Club minus the butchering part :D

Maybe not, but you also probably don't get nearly as much fat and other human tissues (wonder what other tissues they were taking?).

I don't think there'll be a big market for Peruvian brains.

w/ lipo you can only take so much at a time, and i don't think it is a gallon. plus they inject other chemicals into it to liquify it before sucking it out. so you would probably have to "distill" the fat our surgeons get.

this is interesting since places like greece lead the cosmetic "filler" arena about 18mos ahead of the US.

I would wait for some real evidence of this. It is a common scare tactic and a hundreds of years old legend that Pishtacos, westernized foreigners, dressed in leather jackets, hats and carrying knives, kill peasants for their fat, to grease the wheels of modern industry. This is not unlike the hysteria affecting primitive Americans over the election of Obama. In short, I bet this turns out to be a bunch of crap.

Non-Europeans are viewed as sub-human by many Europeans, so it's not exactly chilling that they would use fat extracted from murdered Peruvians. It's no different than using animal fat to them.

Your view of some Europeans is exactly the view that you claim they have. They are no different than animal fat to you. The hideous things you see in Europeans is only yourself.

I agree. This is probably only the tip of the iceberg. Who knows what other dehumanizing and gruesome acts these Europeans are committing against non-Europeans?

I truly hope that there is an extensive investigation in regards to this matter, both in Peru and Europe. However, we all know that the European authorities will pretend it never happened.
