Italian chassis + British engine = 0-60 in 1.67 secs.

I'll believe 1.67 seconds when I see it. even with AWD, every tire at the very limit of adhesion, you'd still have trouble getting to 60 that quickly.

And it's not a 1.67 car if it needs tires that aren't street legal to do it.

Did you just call a car with a british engine reliable? The most reliable engine that came in a british car was designed by Buick.

There's already a thread about this (you're forgiven because I don't think the title mentions anything but the Veyron).

Most likely those are just theoretical numbers and are intended to get the car press.

Its really too unfortunate that the car is a total ripoff of the Saleen S7 though. Hmm, looks like the back is ripped from the Zonda. Ugh, even worse than I thought.

I give this car a huge

Everything looks ripped off. The logo reminds me of Koenigsegg. The names, TKR (TVR anyone?) and Barabus (Brabus?). Oh, of course its got an Italian chassis, and we'll throw in a British engine because that sounds exotic.

I don't think this car actually exists, everything on their official site looks like its just made up trying to get people interested. I would guess they're hoping to snag some investors as they don't have the money to build the thing themselves.

Pretty sure the car is fake, my key point who makes a 300k sports car and can only afford a .info address.

More evidence in the digg comments here

"The car is to be made in Italy "

That sounds like it isn't made yet.

"0-60 1.67seconds Top Speed: 270mph"

Hmm, just, no. I mean, no. Just no.

They insist it'll be great on a track, on autobahns, and on normal roads. It'll be luxurious. It'll have a 'distinctly European' driving experience.

It cannot be all of those things. If it does 0-60 in 1.67seconds, it must weigh as good as nothing. That means no sound dampening, no upholstery, no air con, no radio, no door linings, nothing. But then it simply cannot be luxurious. It can't be comfortable on an autobahn, as it'll be twitchy as hell (good for the track there) and noisy as hell ( no sound dampening).

"Based on a V8 all aluminium block re-engineered by Barabus, the twin turbo dual intercooler motor generates 1005 horsepower at 6800 rpm; redlining at 7500 rpm. Space age materials and engineering are used throughou" 1005bhp, at 6800rpm? That's some good going. I mean, those crap engineers in F1 only get like 800bhp at 14000rpm. They really should use one of these amazing engines shouldn't they?(I know those figures are wrong for F1, but you get the idea I hope)

"The Barabus TKR is on sale at its introduction at the famed British Motorshow, with the first vehicles to be delivered to customers in four months. The Manufacturer?s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is £360,000"

I mean, what a bargain aswell. Those saps at VW, spending all their hard earned dockets making the veyron fairly nippy, and they got to like, 250. These random morons, with no money, have clearly hand built a car that does 270mph. Riiiiight.

I could go on. I hope someone else will go on too. It'll be fun. Tell you what, I'll go to the British Motorshow on Sunday and find the car.

EDIT:

Also, anyone play Gran Turismo 3-4? TommyKaira ZZ-II anyone?

A Lingenfelter C6 427TT can do 0-60 about 1.8-2 seconds if you get traction.

All for only about $150K.

Prove it :p

I'd have to dig up the review links and I'm feeling lazy right now. Take a look around and you can find them. That is also with slicks on, IIRC. Any street legal tires put you into the high 2-3 second range.

Top speed is also something like 225mph.

This car can go 270 mph, costs £360,000, and it doesn't even have a flux capacitor. What a ripoff.

For once, I'm in agreement with you tosspots. Does seem a little bit far-fetched.

Do you mean the one that was redesigned by rover because of reliability issues?
