It would help to know the mod's reason for locking a thread.

Have the number of locked threads increased? Anyway it would be helpful, to avoid making the same mistake, if the moderator gave the reason for locking a thread

TOS is Terms of Service
AUP is Acceptable Use Policy

As for my best guess on why mods don't reveal their reasoning?

a) They don't have to
b) They usually only lock things where its OBVIOUS whats wrong with it
c) What happens if someone doesnt like their reason? Mods have better things to do than be interrogated by unhappy users about why this was locked or why that was moved etc. Usually if you wanna know why a thread was locked, what you really wanna do is argue or debate the excuse, which is something AT mods simply aren't willing to do.
