here's the thing:

most of genesis consists of rehashed tales from sumeria and the surrounding region with a monotheistic twist to it. (attn, 6th grade catholic schoolgirls:if you ask your teacher how humanity could have sprouted forth from adam and eve without heaps of inbreeding he has a right to make you face the wall for the rest of the schoolyear) i'm not even going to get into the wild embellishments that abound in the old testament, but you could say "fact" comes into it once abraham gets involved.

No, and why the hell would you ask that as a question - it's either a boring statement or a pathetic attempt to get some attention - damn, it worked!

i know this i dont know why they dont know it, just about EVERY anchient culture has a great flood story

Even the ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamians, etc, had the same story.

Christianity is just a hodge podge of bits and pieces of other, older, religions.

How do you know those flood/survivor stories didn't spawn from Noah's Ark?

The Epic of Gilgamesh is way older than the bible. Also, if you look the whole serpent in the tree is from Epic of Gilgamesh as well. Lilith anyone?

It's sad that people are wasting so many resources on something so stupid. They could be using their time to do something that can actually help the world and be meaningful...

Umm, right. Just because it has some religious significance means that it couldn't have any archaeological significance? I bet finding those tombs in Egypt were a waste of time as well?

that doesn't disprove the flood idea. some could see it as evidence that there was indeed a world wide flood.

I believe this is a big waste of time and they will never find it. A plane at 35,000 ft spots a large dark patch on the side of a mountain and people want to go up there searching for a myth.

It's like that face on Mars. Ohh, it must be a sign from intelligent aliens.

Hey whatever. It's your life. If you want to spend years of your life looking for an ancient boat be my guest. Might as well search for Atlantis though or a city in the clouds or another world at the center of the Earth.

Judism has the same beliefs as Christians up until the New Testiment. Same bible you know :)

I didn't say anything about religion or archaeology. If the ark was found it'd be very significant to both of those areas. The problem is that they're looking at the top of a 16,000 foot mountain. The only boat that'd be up there is one dropped from a plane.

Considering that the ark is more then twice the size of the fuselage of a 747, that would be a hard task.

But hey even if they don't find anything it still maybe worth the trip.
