I finally rounded up enough money and bought myself an EMG-81 pickup. I get home read the crazy schematic and busted out the 'ol soldering iron and solder. After much careful reading and re-reading, and even more re-reading of the instructions, I was finished after about 2 hours. I desoldered the switch from the circuit as well as the neck pickup. I love the sound of this pickup. I can upload some samples after I buy a microphone.
All in all it was a good learning experience. I learned a lot about how the electronics inside a guitar are. I feel proud to have actually done this myself. It may seem small or easy to some people, but I feel as proud as the day I built my first computer years ago.
Damn I need a
