First off sorry about your loss. A nasty growing pain most of us go through.

What I'm assuming you are saying is that you have a new cpu with the same mobo.

The answer is yes it is possible you ruined the motherboard as well.

Its also possible your ram could be damaged. Might want to try that too.

When you get new parts, I highly recommend you go to Plycon for a high performance fan. The new AMD and P4s almost require a high performance heatsink and fan nowadays.

alright well when i burnt it up.... i pulled the stuff off the bottom of the heatsink cause the instructions say pull the tape off... well there wasnt any tape.... it made a real high pitch noise and then i smelled burning plastic..... so i turned it off.... now im running a 1 ghz amd tbird...... the fan on the heat sink is a volcano III and the fan wont run....

oh yah forgot to mention that little lite on the bottom of the epox board lights up as 88 i dont know if that means anything or not.....

If the fan is plugged into the motherboard directly and doesn't turn on with the power supply, the mobo is dead. Sorry dude. 🙁

Maybe look in your manual or the EpoX website to find out what '88' means on the diagnostic LCD thing on your mobo. Also, you don't need a 'high performance HSF' either. The retail one will be more than adequate if you are NOT overclocking. Do you know anybody with a self-built computer that you could try your components out one by one to see if they are messed up or not?
