It was only a matter of time...

Meh, screw ati and nvidia, the physics department is ageia's and nobody elses (maybe havok but they seem to refuse to make a dedicated card for it).

The name of the game is still FPS in games...last time I checked ageia sucked

Man the geforce3 days was a time when high end cards cost $200 and a good Axp was also around $200. Now good cards are $300-400.

Now gaming consoles cost $300 and have better hardware than graphics cards.

Yeah it's getting a little nuts. Buy 2 dual core CPU's and 4 way SLI and throw in a GPU/PPU and 4 GB of ram for Vista and a new DX10/unified shader video card(s) and a 900 watt PSU to handle it all. Who has money left over to buy any games?

Yeah, and you used to be able to get candy bars for a nickle. Things change.

$1500 won't get you a gaming rig anymore...

I think this statement is a tad on the overkill side...For $1500 you can build a nice rig...I do it all the time....still...even in todays Tech environment.

I built a very nice gaming rig w/ monitor for $1000 just a few months ago. No you can't get the best there is w/ that much money but it's still a killer gaming rig.

thats ridiculus. Even if you're playing oblivion on 2560x1600 all you need is a midrange cpu overclocked and an x1800xt and the dell 30" monitor. Could come out to around $1500. I configured mine for $1200 and its gonna kick a$$.

My recommended, best bang for the buck rig will play any game and is still under $1000.

Same here. And I'm running a wimpy Pentium 630, albeit with 2GB of ram and a 7800 GTX. Still cost me less than a grand.

Without monitor, keyboard/mouse, you can still build a nice little gaming system for less than $600.

See my rig in my sig - that cost me a little less than $1500 to build a couple months ago minus the LCD, with the LCD it was $1800-ish. So if you have a monitor already then yes you can build a very nice gaming rig for under $1500. If you need everything you can still build a nice gaming rig for under that, I just went a little overboard 😀

Yup, the statement is BS.

12643 posts and you still can't recognize a tongue-in-cheek comment? My point was things are getting ridiculous...but I guess that point was lost on you...

Should I have used language like, "Tarzan sees Jane"? Dumb it down a bit?😕

Someone posting "Yup, the statement is BS" is like me saying "Yup, that person is a dumbass"... it's just not polite.

Gee....I saw nothing tounge in cheek about the statement. In fact, it was short and to the point without and added comments. Generally a tounge in cheek statement will has some little giveaway comments with it to lighten up the moment.
