Hello all,

I used to work in IT as a pc Tech. IT was an internship position for a few summers. I have alot of experience tinkering with computers(and a good technical background) and such etc....[but i am not certified and I have just graduated college] anyway I have a very important interview on next wed for a great job that i don't want to mess up. The job is a software support position. I will be given a panel interview(with the 2 team leaders and one member of the team) which will include IT questions and general interview questions. I am nervous and don't want to mess this up. Are there any sites online that i can take quizes or fake tests to brush up on some IT questions i may be asked?

Maybe some interview advice will calm my worries of messing this up. I am confident but I would like to be prepared if that is possible.

Thankyou for any time or comments

Generally, they will not ask you very specific questions. They are not going to want to know what menu option disables the <fill in the blank>... etc. Mostly, they are probably looking for troubleshooting techniques.

There will be those really annoying questions like: "Describe a time in which you had a difficult software problem on a PC, and tell us how you fixed the problem"

Most technical interviews are a joke! Don't sweat it kid. My motto when hiring... I can train you on technology, but I cannot train your personality! If you as experienced as it get and your a not a person I can woork with....No way, but if you know what a computer is, and I can see you as a fit in my team...Then the job is yours. I will send you to classes to learn what I need you to know! Relax, and worry more about your interpersonal skills than tech skills! Good luck,

Thanks, i think my computer skills and ability to learn are very impressive, as does anyone i've ever worked with (guess i've just been out of the industry so i was a little less than confident with those things) but when it comes to personality, i could charm the pants of anyone i want (not to be cocky, but people just like me ) so i am pretty confidant going in there, we'll see how it goes....

The best part so far is that they told me it is 4-6 week training before the job starts, then i will shadow someone for a week or 2. This means that my technical skills are not nearly as important as my attitude, ability to learn, personality... etc :)
