so yea, this negative income is really getting to me, so i've decided to find a jobby job

but none of that minimum wage stuff, i'm through with that

but everything that i want to do is one of those "you need experience to get experience" kinda deals

what the phrack is up with that, i can't pull experience outta my arse y'know

and then they ask me for a resume

what the heck am i su pposed to put? i'm trying to break out of that minimum wage stuff into an entry level job and you want me to write a resume? do you seriously think i'm gonna impress anybody by listing "cashier for walmart(no i didn't really do that, but you get my point)

argh, the worst part abut quitting is finding a new job

19 years old, by the end of 2001 I'll have made $31K+, next year I should make $35K.

Been doing it only two years.

You can typically figure $10-12 to start, maybe less if you're part time. They don't require much experience (I'd say most of the people posting here could do the job), & it's relatively laid back as far as rules. High stress though.

Work for your school, almost every department here has some sort of work study. Most places don't pay a lot but at least it is close and you get that experience.

Tech support at your school! Are you any good with computers?

I found my dream job at college. I work 20 hours / week (mostly 8 to midnight shifts) and make 10 bucks / hour.

I sit there and do my EE homework, and *occasionally* fix Nimda or something. It's great!

ADVICE: Stay away from dining hall jobs!!

obviously reffering to my thread, eh?

I checked into tech support positions around the chicago suburban areas but couldnt find any that wanted people without experience. Also, since I have school in the mornings, that automatically reduces 9-5 and similar jobs, which have most of the good positions with good pay.

Last year around this time, I worked like 30 hrs a week for an average of $11-12 an hour. Now, Ive got nuthin

start looking for jobs within your major. unless you're desperate for money, internships are the way to go. you'll get your foot in the door and hopefully have something lined up after graduation.

campus tech support usually doesn't req. previous experience if you're knowledgeable enough. if you can't get that job, you could always be a lab monkey.

i'm still in my first 2 years of college so i'm not worried about internships yet

when i xfer out of community college i'll shoot for internships, but right now i'm looking for money, and lots of it hehe

I'm a CCNP CCDP with a degree in Computer Information Systems. Granted i haven't looked super hard, even internships seems difficult to find.

If anyone's got an offer in Silicon valley let me know!

do your school not pay well? working for A/V (setting up computers for profs that use Powerpoint, TV's etc..) pays $16cdn ($10us) not bad for flexible hours and no required experience...
