It says limited or no connectivity on my LAN connection

Hi,

just reinstalled xp pro to sp2...
in the system tray, it says limited or no connectivity as my status of my LAN

it is 100Mbps to my other PC.

So it's not getting a connection. Did you run the networking setup? Do you have multiple adapters installed?

the transfer is ok, i can transfer files back and forth.. no problem.. don't know about speed yet..

there is a exclaimation mark in the system tray, saying that the LAN connection is limited or no connectivity...

i am wondering what is wrong.

That happened to me yesterday, when I installed my new wireless router.

First I had to plug my pc directly into the cable modem, then run the router wizard so it could detect my connection settings. When I plugged my pc's network cable into the cable modem, it gave me the same "limited connectivity" stuff you are getting. I went to Network Connections and ran the connection wizard. That fixed it.

If your internet is working there is nothing to really worry about. Open up your network connections and list what connections you have on your system.

i just disabled the line saying "notify me when the connection is limited or no connectivity"

ya, the yellow triangle is gone, however i don't know if it really solve the problem.

I'm having this problem too. I've been working on fixing it all day. I'm gonna try installing WinXP sp1 (I have sp2 now but I can't uninstall it) and see if that fixes it.

I'd just like to add that I tried micro$oft's hotfix, I manually set the connection to 11mbps, and I also tried setting DNS manually rather than having DHCP do it.
