It really is true: People are their own worst enemy

Was just talking to a friend about how rude people can be and for no good reason, so she tells me how she was recently working a "pitch fest" in Hollywood, where writers pitch their ideas to production companies, and this writer walks up to her and says sarcastically: "Oh, I see they have the high-powered executives here to talk to us", referring to her b/c she is a low-level employee.

And she tells me: "Doesn't this guy realize that if I was in a bad mood I could just ignore everything he says (his ideas) and he would get exactly *nowhere*?!".

B/c the fact is, all the scripts and ideas go thru only these "low-level" employees, who the production companies put their complete faith and trust in.

I wish I could say I've never done anything stupid like that, but I can't. I really do think that for most of us, when we look at recurring problems in our lives, we did it to ourselves....

good point. ask a 20 year old, career snotty college chick that has never heard of "forums" if you want a real answer

"Yes they did. Good day to you" and walk off.

Heh.

Actually having her pull out her Zippo, lighting the Scrpit on fire, and using it as kindling to start off a Cuban cigar would have been more appropriate😀

The golden rule still applies to everything and everywhere. Always amazed me that these people come in with such crappy attitudes and expect everybody to just bow down to them. I'm talking about the guy making the wise crack - what an ass! If he would only realize talking to everybody as if they the most important person in the world makes all the diiference. Be it pitching a script or returning something at the store - just be nice.

I agree. There is no excuse for bad manners.
