School has started back up and I'm looking for a computer related job. Most of the jobs are either more IT support / helpdesk or straight programming. Now I'm computer science and planning on doing programming for my career, but I think a year of IT could be a good learning experience. Or maybe an experience that will make me never want to do IT again, which may be considered good. Should I apply for some IT jobs?

Hmm found a tech support one that pays $9 an hour. The department is pretty small, so I imagine there'd be a lot of downtime.

Prolly be the opposite. The smaller the dept the more work you'll have to do.

The best tech support job i've had was for the athletic dept and UofI, huge budget and like 10 techs working.

I worked for the athletics doing web programming for their website. Sometimes I did a lot, sometimes I did nothing. One of buddies worked with the Athletic IT group, and he was always doing stuff. I don't mind doing work though if I'm getting well compensated. I was paid minimum wage...
