Just to let all you guys know, on friday I got accepted into Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I'll be going through the Information Technology Network Specialist program. Hopefully I wont have to resort to using this message board for answers, but someday I WILL be the person answering all the questions! All I wanted to know was if anyone else has been through this course and how was it?

You'll never be the person answering all the questions. Lots of people here have education and have working in IT for years and still come here asking questions. School is a good start, but you still need tools for finding answers, such as google and this and other message boards. I have a bachelors degree and have been a sysadmin for 5 years and I still have questions cuz new stuff keeps changing or I'm wanting to do new things.

The important thing is just to be able to do some troubleshooting yourself. One of my biggest peeves is a guy who does consulting (sort of like a home business) and he's always asking me how to fix things when it's obvious he hasn't even attempted to fix it or put any thought into it himself.

Good luck but you will never answer all of the questions. n00b! 😛

QFT! There are always new questions coming down the line. You'll never know it all and your training will never end. nOOb! 😛

one thing I quickly realized is that you can't just "be IT". There is so much out there, even if you just want to say "Network" guy. There is the VOIP guy, the Layer2 Guy, the routing guy, the wireless guy, the WAN guy, etc. You can either dabble in all, or master one (and that mastery takes a LOT of time)
