It must be my lucky day.

I went to the local Publix® for some groceries for my "Body-for-Life" diet, and I needed some fish. So, I trotted over to the seafood department and decided to get some talapia and some ocean perch. The guy wraps up the tilapia for me, and asks how much of the perch I wanted. I told him "2 or 3 filets". He bagged them, and then I realized how small they were. I asked him if I could get some more, and he said "sure", then reached in the cooler and grabbed a fistful of fish. He then grabbed the original price tag (for .30 lb of fish), and slapped it on the bag, and told me to have a nice day. ~3 lbs of fish for the price of less than 1/2 a lb!

Pretty sad when 2 1/2 lbs of free fish constitutes a lucky day, eh?

Perhaps I should have bought some lottery tickets.

Nothing sad about it. 🙂 It's always nice to have something cool done for you. I"m sure the counter guy recognizes you as a regular and knows how much $$$ you spend there. Taht's called "Good Customer Service."

For example, there's an Exxon Minimart near my house. I get my gasoline there as well as coffee/doughnuts/beer/gum/etc there.

Every once in awhile, the woman at the counter in the mornings will give me the coffee for free if that's all I'm buying. Good customer service.

I'm glad you got over. 🙂

I used to do the same thing for people who were regulars at my families donut and coffee shop as a kid. It was close to a railroad station and every morning we had our regulars. When you have people who constantly spend money at your business, you want to do a little more for them to remember you by.
