When someone shows you who they are, believe them. When you consider Trump's prior behavior, IF he won another term, does anyone really believe he would leave peacefully?

Or would he try to make himself king or President for Life?

I don't _think_ he'd succeed at that. The troubling thing is not so much what Trump himself wants (he doesn't have a good track record of getting results and realising plans), rather it's that there are so many people out there who would want that for him, or if not him, some other, similar, figure.

I think people underestimate how close he came. Had he gotten Pence to refuse to count electoral votes from those states there’s a good chance the vote goes to the House and then Trump would have ‘won’. If the Democrats object then what? Facts on the ground.

We are in a much better place now as Biden controls the army and federal law enforcement so the next election will be more difficult to steal but Trump really did almost succeed.

The orange monkey was never fully in control of the military. Yes he possessed the nuclear codes, but none of the generals in charge of the appropriate nuclear installation would follow the order.

The default position of the military is to follow the orders of the president. If Pence refuses to count those electoral votes so nobody gets a majority and then the House votes to make Trump president are you saying the military would have refused to follow his orders in case of a civil conflict? I’m not sure of that at all.

All the active generals, most definitely still have a sense of honour and refuse the order. Would foot soldiers on the other hand? Yeah less sure there.

I wouldn't be concerned about the foot soldiers, who actually skew democratic. I also agree the top generals (although I don't think all generals) would refuse the order. I would be worried about the senior enlisted and midrange officers though.

Gen. Mark Miley gave him a serious wake up call on that.

And TFG called him "treasonous" for it.

I recall how Pence refused to get in his secure limo probably thinking it was a one way trip out to the boonies under Trump's orders, giving the House a clear path toward Trump's takeover. What with the SS suspiciously scrubbing their phones of Jan. 5-6 messaging, methinks Pence had the right idea to sit tight and hold out at the Capitol.

Whaaat the f.......

Anyway, I dont see how this changes anything in Trumps calculus... With Garlands interview yesterday I must say I am surprised that he hasnt announced that he is running yet. I coulda sworn..........
The party is signaling to him that they will abandon him, although if I were Trump I would call their bluff because they’ve tried the same shit so many times in the past without success.

This is probably a signal to his lawyers that they need to pressure him not to announce. If RNC cuts off the payments then those bills aren't going to be paid. We all know there ain't no way that Trump pays his own legal expenses.

As a basic idea for the ‘LOL TRUMP WINS 2024’ people doesn’t the fact that the party desperately doesn’t want him to get involved in the midterms tell you that they view him as a weak candidate?

Excellent fucking question… Wonder if DeSantis is taking “Trump Improv” classes right about now….

Also, getting your ducks in a row for the next insurrection attempt?
Republicans, all of them, wants the DOD top stop looking for extremists in the military... aka potential domestic terrorists.

WELL THATS WEIRD!

This should be a good feud if it happens. Trump will not go along with the party line and candidate they pick. I'm not sure if they can promise him anything to lay low and not tell his supporters to stay home on election day
