Ok, I have now finished what I hope is the last mod to my system.

Specs:
Tyan Tiger 133 Motherboard
Dual 800 EB Processors
1 + gig of Ram
Voodoo 5 5500 Video card
SB Live Platnium sound card
TDK 24 x CD Burner
3com 3c905 tx with WOL NIC
Adeptec 2940 W SCSI card
Maxtor ATA 100 controller card
HDDS:
6 MAXTOR ATA 100 20 GIG hdds
21 Fans
now in an external SCSI case made out of a Gateway 486 tower case
2 Seagate 23 GIG SCSI hdds
2 Seagate 4.2 gig SCSI hdds
6 cooling fans

This gives me a grand total of 174 gigs of hdd space.

I am running W2K Advanced Server on this machine. With the hdds, and all the fans running, it sounds like a frickin jet plane in here.

But hey, now I have enough storage for my 400+ cd collection. :D When the wife and I got married, we each had over 200 cds each, so now I can rip them and store them. Every thing from classical to opera, to jazz to classic rock, 80s, celtic, etc.

Why did you need six 20GB hard drives? Maxtor sells a 7,200RPM 120GB drive that would work just great for all those CDs. :)

Still, nice setup. What all do you use it for?

I got the 6 because they were on sale at Microcenter a while back. 65.00 a piece, and get the ATA 100 card for free.

Now, with a kid on the way, I can't really afford to go out and buy any more hdds.

21 fans, plus 6 more? Is that a wind tunnel, or a computer?

I wanna see how you got 21 fans in there!!! Did you make the case itself out of fans?

Just got my computer setup with a new case. I have a nice windtunnel too, but not nearly as big as that thing. Mine is alot quieter now, and I think I like that better.

What the heck with 6 hdds & 21 fans?

Am I the only person here that prefer low power Transmeta & Geode CPUs.

What about Disk-on-Chip technology currently at 576 megs per module (I am currently only working with 16, 32 & 128 megs modules & 128-512 megs of ram). Coupe it with Debian & X-windows you would have a great functional web browser/server, image/text editor that consume at 25W with no moving part or fan.

I have a tyan tiger 100 board, it's pretty cool except the overclock settings dont work.

Anyway, tyan makes pretty good stuff. I'm running dual 450s, though.

ulfward... you do realize that you have a fast computer doesnt mean that you'll be able to watch more porn simultaneously, right??? that rate is defined by your eyes and brain...
