Despite feeling woozy, nauseous and light headed from the blood loss I powered through it all to get the server back up and running. I think I might have to go on disability or at least get Hazard Pay though

You know they have these tools now that screw those screws in right? No more bashing them into place with your knuckles.

Poor form. When you punch a computer(or any electronics), you want to use the two knuckles *only* on your first and second fingers where they join your hand. Not only does it deliver more power, you're less likely to get injured in the process ;^)

Good Job.

That is why I keep or servers under Parts and labor warranty with Dell. I just step back and let the Dell tech abuse his body swapping parts.

I've always said that computers work using some sort of voodoo magic. That's why they make the edges inside the case so sharp. Requires a blood sacrifice.

When I was a kid I was removing an old scsi card, I was pushing on the metal bracket part while pulling on the card.

All of the sudden the card popped out, and my finger jammed inside the case where the bracket goes, wedged between the metal dividers.. I instinctively yanked it out, shredding my finger. I have had a "serious" injuries that were less painful.

Is it against your HR handbook to go around asking female co-workers if they want to be blood-brothers?

I've actually got a scar on my thumb from fileting off a chunk of flesh trying to knock out a plate that must have been made of adamantium that covered a 5.25" drive bay. Owee. It looked like a murder scene in my office.

somewhere in our data center, there's a server with blood on it because I sliced my hand open on the cover doing a RAM upgrade.

A few years ago, a friend went into my old company's datacenter to do some work. He pulled out the keyboard/monitor tray to check a few things and then knelt down to check the server. He forgot the tray was out and when he stood up, it wrecked his nose, with blood everywhere. They had to take him to the hospital for stitches.

Quit fooling around and come help me set my background to this funny picture of my cat. This is the cutest and funniest cat pic of all time, and I want it as my home picture. Do I have to put in a ticket?

My knuckles look like that on about any given day in the winter. The simple motion of wrapping them around the steering wheel is enough to make them bleed some days. No copious amounts of lotion can keep it from happening.

Yup... you're not a real IT guy until you've had a server bite back when you try to upgrade it.

I'm not quite that bad, but it's still pretty bad. A small nick will leave be bleeding like an artery was hit. Irritating...

The bashing in I can deal with its the getting them back out once they've been smashed in there that is tough

My life force leaking from my body

There are some sadistic engineers out there who, I am sure, include things like "File to a razor sharp edge" and "Put this in the way for no reason" in their build instructions

The gods of silicon require sacrifice and blood from time to time...occupational hazard and all that.

Remember the old cases, like those Enlights everyone had 20 years ago? If you were in a hurry they'd make you look like a hemophiliac.

Been a long time since I hurt myself on a computer, but the last time was definitely the most eye opening: carrying a friends full size ATX case down some stairs and his brother accidentally bumped into me. I decided to try to jump clear instead of taking out others, but ended up making it all worse. Landed on top of the vertical case, which beat me to the floor, cracked 2 ribs! And holy shit does that hurt!
