It is sad that humankind can have the ability to love, but at the same time we can be deleterious.

Warning Graphic: New video and photos provide irrefutable proof of Chinese brutality in Tibet: Tibetan Govt. in-exile

In a harrowing presentation to the press yesterday afternoon, the Department of Information and International Relations released footage captured on 10 March of Chinese police beating protesters, the suffering and death of a captive, and the Para-military presence in Lhasa. The video and photos captured provide irrefutable proof of the brutal treatment of Tibetans as recently as 2008.......

The enforcement of peace is in itself, non-peaceful. Therein lays your ultimate problem.

In order to attain peace, one must first define it. Once you define it, you'll find it can only exist within yourself.

Who ever thought peace was an attainable goal? The best that can be done is to make the effort to try. That's not a useless exercise. The best comes from effort, not resignation.

I do!
Peace is attainable!
After humanity evolves to that level of conscientiousness.
The mixing of creed, the removal of borders, the removal of need and the elimination of the current political and monetary system(greed).
Greed, need and creed.
We create complexity to blind ourselves of our real purpose- to be happy and positively progressive.
But you must look beyond your own life span for the fruit to bare, tending to the tree is the ultimate fulfillment in life.

Evan Sayet was right.

Without continued conflict, man will eventually forget what peace is. It is in human nature to create conflict.

Maybe he is right, but he has no solution.
My belief is uass, the uk and israel won't even exist by the time I'm checking out of this hotel- approx. 40years.
The thing you fear the most is a fascist/commie uprising, I hope you are young enough to see it happen and all you have built in your life for you and your family stripped and laid to waste!

Anyone read the Culture novels by Iain M. Banks? Or I suppose Star Trek is almost as good an example. People will be pretty much peaceful when we attain a level of technology which ensures nobody has to want or need anything, and a level of education which ensures everyone knows what that means. This is essentially communism but by then it would hardly matter.

"After humanity evolves . . .?"

On what basis are you assuming that humanity evolves? I see absolutely no evidence that human nature has changed in the past 5000 years. Our nature is defined by our genes and influenced by the brutality of life.

"Need" will always exist, since it's inevitable that not everyone will have everything they want. And when we see others that have things that we don't have, envy and jealousy result. And if we get many of the things we want, it's human nature to always want more.

The only way to eliminate need and greed is to lobotomize the entire human race. And then repeat the process for each generation. Of course, once you lobotomize everyone, you'll also no longer have creativity, passion, or the quest for knowledge.

We don't create complexity. Existence is inherently complex.

We don't "blind ourselves to our real purpose." There IS no "purpose," so how could we possibly hope to "see" anything other than the product of our own imaginations?

Beyond one's own lifespan is the void.

Existence must be pretty scary for you that you find it necessary to fill your head with these little fantasies.

Yeah, private ownership is a bitch. It's the most fundamental concept in modern economics (at least the modern economics that work), and it's just got to go.

There will never be peace. Humans exist to kill, nothing more. When you understand this, you will be complete.
