It is official, the C6 Z06 is one hell of a beast. 1/4 mile times inside

Yep, it sure is. Even the C5 Z06 was a beast too, it could run in the very very high 11s stock. From your article, I think with that kind of MPH trap times, it could definately be in the mid 11s, sounds like a crappy launch.

Obligatory "It sucks because its American and it has leaf spring suspension". There, now we're done with that.

they went through 3 gears. aka 3rd gear = 123 mph... WOW also i figure it was a bad driver and launch, also power shifting wasnt used from what i understand.

and who knows how much the vehicle has been broken in. they still are pretty damn new vehicles and the engine is prolly just getting abused like all hell but who cares, its GM providing the car

Why did they go with such an "old-world" suspension?
My ancestors' medieval ox cart had the same setup! 😛

o boy... lets not start this flamewar.

but basically here is what the leafspring on the vette is like.

oldschool leaf springs<<vette leaf springs.

the tech behind them is insane.

and guys please dont start that flame war PLEASE, start a new thread if you want to.

Because they were able to achieve their goals with a significantly simpler and more cost effective solution?

Short of driving a Ferrari or some super exotic, the Corvette is one of the BEST handling cars out there.

im probably a troll because im not american -- and you are defending your national pride -- its understandable

you say "outhandle" ... you must be joking
if you said outdrag -- then i have to agree

try the lotus elise -- race car for the road

edit: how much is the vette anyways? is it about the same price as the porsche boxter?

so you found one of the few vehicles. i will say that the elise will handle as well maybe a lil better than the vette. but you have no real data to back yourself up.

and im known as the GM defender, and most ppl hate GM, however you can find and ask any true car expert and they will admit the same thing the Vette has ALWAYS handled many many times better than most any vehicle.

I think he's just quoting Top Gear.

oh you want me to string together some more vehicles? I would, its just I dont know how much the vette is worth.... you know its not fair if I compare it to a 911 gt3 or something if its worth 2X as much

and btw the lotus is not "slightly" better than the vette.... it even beats the gt3 so there is really no comparison

edit: what do you mean by data to show what car has better handling? how do you know the vette has better handling? where's your data?

50:50 weight distribution, stiff springs, good power band would be some of the categories I use , but "performance" ultimatley diminishes day do day use, for which the lotus has been quoted as being "you must be crazy to drive that car day to day"

Race- Prepped Elise vs Street C5 on Nurburgring - Fixed x3, much faster link , right click save as.

The Elise does a good job of pulling away in turns, but the Corvette is on him throughout the whole race. Keep in mind, its a race prepped Elise versus a STREET car C5. I dunno if its stock or not.

Now, put an extra 150hp into that Corvette, drop 200lbs, and give it a much better suspension, then you have a Z06.

The Z06 will decimate the Race prepped Elise on a track, yet alone a stock Elise.

the Z06 is a 75 grand vehicle.

the former Z06 w/ MUCH less hp, MUCH less tech, ran a 1.26.8 lap on Top Gear with a fvcked up clutch, bald tires and damage to it. this is in 14th place depending upon the date of the last update on the topgear site. faster than a GT3 (wet track) and easily keeping up with vehicles at the time 3x as costly as it.

i guarentee with the new tech and body it will handle better, take off like no other and just blow the sh/t outta most any car near its cost.

edit: and yea, i have more backup than you could dream of right now.

Acteon: that vid link is taking me to some random SonyBM site.

I thought the cost was more in the 60-70 range.
