The way they designed the heat system where I work is silly. There is a big radiator and it's tied into as one zone, part of the zone is in the server room, the other zone is in the office. We had to turn it off to avoid getting temp alarms on the SAN. To make matters worse, the air conditioning ducts were also a single zone. So not only did we not have heat, but we had AC, in winter. It was about 12 degrees in the room at most times.
They finally fixed all that, but I find the new HVAC system is very weird. It's either AC, or Heat. Can't have it just, off. So if you turn the thermostat up, you get heat, if you turn it slightly down, you get AC. There's no comfortable zone. Either too hot or too cold!
They probably don't realize all the money they could save if they allowed users to simply turn off the hvac for their zone. Or at least add a "dead zone" like between 20 and 25 it stays off, or something.
