It is final exam week and I just got diagnosed with....

Bronchitis, throat infection, and a sinus infection.

The question that I have is this....

Which way can I study and take tests better, no pseudoephedrine and feel like utter crap or with pseudoephedrine based decongestants and be able to breathe and feel ok, but be screwed up in the head?

Pseaudophededrine doesn't effect you at all, there are no chemcial groups in it that would cause mental stimulus or the lack there of. Just take it, and only that, pure generic wal-mart pseudopehedrine, not any drowsy stuff. And, don't stay on it long, I almost had a stroke from it after taking it for 6 months. 😉

Take them.

I can't believe the Sudafed affects you that badly.

It does, took one of them at noon yesterday and I did not get to sleep until 4AM.

take some pills for now. And also, talk to your professors. Some of them will be nice enough to reschedule, hopefully...

Offer to take a more difficult test, MOST will be impressed with this and let you slide and take the normal test at your convenience

Psuedophedrine is not like supedrine, so it was the placebo effect.

Then you're really not going to want to hear this... I gave you herpes last night.

Some people get wicked side effects from Sudafed, but the majority get very mild ones or none at all (astronauts can fly the space shuttle while on it) so you should be fine taking it before a test.

Antibiotic for the infection (ought to start feeling significantly better in about 24 hours), sinus spray (like Flonase or whatever) to open your airway up in your head, something for the cough (perhaps even advair or albuterol pills/inhaler if it is an asthmatic reaction.) Prescription preferred, ones with minimal side effects. That's what my doctor would recommend (I've had the same problems before), in addition to OTC like sudafed if the above don't relieve symptoms well enough to function.

Take the pills AND speak to your profs. Trust me, anxiety attacks don't help you when you get sick. Just study and do what you can....
