So, I was taking some time off from being a SJW to indulge my bourgeois interest in all things automotive at Jalopnik. I hated their forum layout change of a year or two ago and all but stopped going there, but I really can't withstand the allure of that sweet, sweet auto porn. However, I digress.

What I have come here to remark on is this. As a long ago graduate of Miss Manners Academy of Applied Niceness, it caught me up short. But, f*ck yeah, it HAS come to this:

The barbarians are not just at the gate, they are inside the hallowed gates of my Republic and they have seized the reins. As a true, small 'p' patriot who still fiercely believes in the highest ideals of inclusion and equality that undergird our now faltering American Dream:

I will not continue to make the same mistake that the Social Cadets made vis a vis the Bolsheviks in the wake of the Russian Revolution or that the non-Nazi center, left and right parties made vis a vis Hitler.

I will NOT continue to bring a knife to a gun fight. This is war.

And, YES, I am painfully aware of the wisdom of the dictum, "Be careful how you choose your enemy, for you will come to resemble him." But these are desperate times. Trump and his ugly collection of Trump Humpers have degraded our institutions and our national discourse beyond believable measure.

Donald J. Trump is dangerous demagogue, seemingly without ethics or conscience. He and his cronies in and out of government must be confronted and stopped . . . and, yes, in these dark hours, by (almost*) any means possible.

It HAS come to this . . . that I will now fight fire with fire . . . that I, after careful consideration and with no small fear for the fate of my immortal soul . . . endorse calling the disgusting racist shit stain Stephen Miller on his personal cell phone** and giving him a piece of your mind.

No safe space for these weasels.

No justice? No peace.

While I clicked no links I agree. I’m tired of Democrats not protecting their reputations, I’m tired of the Pocahontas crap with no response or some overly complicated some Indian tribe endorsed Warren bullshit.
I’ve been laughed at for saying instead of when they go low we go high, it should be when they go low I’m going lower until it stops.

I've been going to Jalopnik for years but last December my posts stopped showing up.
Posts show up everywhere else on Kinja.
Everywhere except Jalopnik.
I can type up the best response in the world and after I hit post I don't even show up in the greys.

Screw Jalopnik.
Starting to think I got blacklisted for saying there is nothing wrong with a Camry and that the F-35 is good plane.

I wrote my congresswoman to impeach Trump over the children hostage thing and a few days later heard her on the radio say she would fund the wall if it would make trump stop.

Resort to the same behavior in the bully example it’s either name calling and or violence.
In the Political sense it’s just name calling. No matter how much of a turd I think the President is he’s not sending out the guard to break up Democratic groups.

I don't consider myself a Liberal, or Progressive or any other silly label. Rather, somewhere in what I call the middle, and I am registered (I). I would have considered voting (R) prior to say the Bill Clinton years (which is when the GOP truly went straight toward a cliff to the right, IMO).

I think it's time to fight back too. If that means I get called a dirty name like "liberal" or whatever, I just remember it's small-minded morons doing the insulting.

I don't support spreading fake news in right-wing-supporter style to win though. I guess that's one place I won't go, because refusal to try to at least find common ground in the facts--even if you disagree with what to do with them--is the true death of society IMO. Unfortunately we are just about there due to one side. Orwell had it right, he'd be fucking horrified at what this country has become.

Clinton's camp used the most personal attacks in history, by FAR. Trump dominated the conversation because all people could do in response to him was talk about / down to him. Policy was a side show at best, hardly spoken of or whispered about. This isolated Democrats from the swing voters who were looking to hear something positive about how their vote would improve their lives. That message was not received because of all the hatred and negativity coming from people. The reaction to Trump is what MADE Trump. The 24/7 coverage and polarization gave him the election.

If there is an argument to be made for the "high road" it's that it was NOT taken last time. Plus, going low drives polarization. It forces people to choose sides. Have you set them up, prior, to make a good choice? Thankfully Trump, being Trump, may be all the prep we need to ensure victory in the coming elections. I hope people can see through him now that he is an incumbent and utterly incompetent and contemptible in his behavior. I hope the board is set, because this renewed fervor of venom has the pieces in motion to determine our future, and I'll bet there is no stopping this moment in history where people damn decorum and push against each other, to whatever end.

Please understand that while I do not share your passion, you do have my vote. I do wonder where this all leads.

I have my right to vote and I have my right to free speech (within bounds of course). With that we have the right to have a free press.

There is a stark difference in how those rights get applied (abused in this case) where we have a president who "applies" his rights by lying his ass off every chance he gets and what I mean by "every chance he gets" is with the knowledge that he does so by an order of magnitude beyond the pale of what was once wholly unforgivable from a sitting president.

Yet here we are, listening to his blatant and incessant lies on a daily/hourly basis with Trump getting called out on every one of them with absolutely no ill effect on his supporters. He and they have taken our rights and weaponized them in order to redefine them to their liking and force the rest of us to accept their definition of how those rights should be applied. He and they are using those very rights to lie, to deflect, to deceive, to corrupt, to defeat the facts and truths that would, in a former iteration, have these, these LIARS laughed off the stage of public opinion.

Trump has proven that the truths and facts of any matter that concerns him have absolutely no value. To him and his supporters the truth has become whatever he says it is.

Therein lies the almost, repeat almost, insurmountable task of overcoming what has become a surreal and bizarre happenstance where one cannot fight fire with fire. We can't fight the lies that come out of the Trump camp with lies of our own. Yet the truth does not seem to be a weapon of equal or superior firepower when it comes to duelling against the infernally incessant lies from Trump and his Repub minions in the House and Senate that daily "infests" us like fleas on our skin and ticks in our ears. Trump's lies are targeting the gut emotional instincts in his supporters where sadly in this case, the undeniable truths become easily deniable. Too easy. Way too easy.

Trump's supporters and the party faithful who vote Repub "no matter what" seem to be perfectly OK and fine with this abomination that sits in the White House. They are more than willing to put up with and endure the shame, the embarrassment and the damage to the nation that Trump's running amok is causing because Trump "is their guy" come hell or high water, yet would scream and screech to the highest pitch unimaginable if Trump were a Democrat.

Isn't it so........inconvenient as Al Gore put it, that where it should really really matter, the truth simply doesn't. It's irrelevant.
