i need info from IT dudes/dudettes that use a single ghost image for multiple PC's, i.e. 3 different Compaq/HP models and 2 Dells and a IBM for example

what are the issues? caveats? is it just a matter of getting the correct drivers? do you preinstall all the drivers? or do you run a post image script to install just the right driver for the model?

do you use the unattend/sysprep stuff to install drivers?

any input is appreciated, thank you

we currently make a seperate image for each hardware platform we support, we need to go to fewer images

tips:
Understand Windows HALs, ACPI is the most compatible
Use Sysprep with flag set to detect PNP devices and point to a drivers directory on image
Learn to make a .reg file to add IDE Controller drivers to a build text
