Anyone have to snag another mug of joe in the afternoon? I'm dragging ass here :

Luckily I filled my BOFH mug 😀

Eliminate refined sugars from your diet and your energy level during the day will stabilize drastically.

I barley eat any sugars save for what naturally occurs in fruit. I've stopped eating candy and I don't drink soda usually.

Do you have to eliminate them completely? What is an appropriate amount to have per day?

No ... I rarely drink coffee, and if I do, it is in the mid-morning when I have a long meeting. The afternoons drag on no matter what I eat. Only 4 more hours 😛

Hell, I just say screw it and doze off while lunch hour is in effect 😛

Sometimes I can't help eating a large lunch and it KILLS me at about 1:00pm!!

Afternoon meetings are always the most brutal, especially because I usually have to talk a lot.. I feel like sometimes I'm not even talking and I hope what I just said made sense.

it usually depends on whether or not i've had a big, starchy lunch.

it also depends on whether i feel like walking to the local coffee place or the soda machine 🙂

I did this a year ago and it's helped more than coffee ever did. I love coffee though, usually a 1-2 cups in the morning and a decaf in the afternoon.

Just thought I'd mention it. I was riding the snake (manic one minute, falling asleep the next), this totally leveled me out.

Food coma and afternoon fatigue are caused by eating only one large meal mid-day. This is what started the "turkey makes you sleep" myth after Thanksgiving meals. Most people overeat by a wide margn on thanksgiving, causing intense food coma.

Split your daily meals into 5-6 small meals and you will maintain your energy levels all day long.

He speaks the truth. I used to have this "food coma" problem when eating 2-3 substantial meals a day. I now eat a balanced meal 5 times a day (in smaller portions of course), and very rarely have this problem. Having those energy swings can be terrible...
