well, it took 4 years, but my sony dvp-s360 finally started giving c1300 errors. after everyone else's died 3 eyars ago and mine survived i figured mine would be ok. well, it isn't. after watching dazed and confused the player will no longer work.

dvd player. at one time it was one of the best non-progressive scan players on the market (and it still beats many progressive scan players). but, about 3 years ago damn near most of them died due to the 'no disk' c:13:00 error.

That was the first dvd player I owned, gave it to a friend a couple years ago and as far as I know its still going.
You should cram an htpc into it or something now.

sounds about right for a sony

No kidding. I figure 3-4 years for home electronics and about 16 hours of actual use for Sony camcorders. Their Walkmans are the only durable thing they've ever made, and even those weren't any better than other brands. Sony in a big part of why I don't trust Consumer Reports - Sony always rates great there, and I'll be the first to say Sony does tend to have a good look/feel to their products, but their durability is criminal.
