IT dept. to employees ratio???

I'm just wondering what kind of numbers some of you have at your companies? We have about 300 employees at our company and an IT staff of 8. Four of those are programmers and the other four are tech/network people.

We have about 5 supporting over 100 systems, 6-7 printers and 500 students..

if you count my web department and the ops that run the servers because we all para-troubleshoot.... I'd say an extra IT man for every 10 new employees

30 staff, 400+ students, 50(?) faculty
About 100 computers, 6 printers, 2 copiers, plus whatever personal computers people have

supported by:
1 director (doesn't do everyday stuff), 2 database people, 1 sys admin, 1 intern.

this question is a bit complicated for our company

if you don't count the retail locations and count all of the "headquarters" type locations, then

total employees is about 1500? IT would be about half of that if you include all the applications groups, which are part of IT
