It could all be over for the Republicans on January 29.

If McCain can win South Carolina, a strong evangelical/religious right state that would spell the end of Huck.
And McCain has the nomination.

It's looking increasingly likely.

Not that it matters to me. I wouldn't vote for either one.

At this point I figure its a choice of slamming my left hand in the car door or my right hand in the car door.

Either way its gonna hurt.

Exactly; if we're gonna vote for a liberal we might as well get free healthcare too.

McCain will die off from this point on. His speech was so awful.
I havent heard speech reading that bad since Jr high school.
If that alone didnt turn off voters, I dont know what will.
Huck will probably win in SC. They like "so called, self appointed" religious nut cases.

I just heard that Romney is pulling his ads in S. Carolina to concentrate on Michigan.
Not good for Huck, since Romney and McCain have much the same supporters.
I wonder how much money Huck has to campaign in S. Carolina? Those religious right wackos are broke from giving all their money to the televangelists. Who don't seem willing to put their money on a candidate.
On the same day is Florida, and if Huck wins S. Carolina and Guiliani Florida thats it for McCain and its a Huck nomination.
Of course, I don't think Rudy will win Florida, but he has a shot.

eh.

if McCain wins Michigan and loses SC (or vice versa), it'll probably come down to Florida + Super Tuesday.

if McCain wins both, there's a pretty good chance it's over.

McCain isnt going to win in SC. Over half of all republicans in that state consider themselves evangelicals. He might not win Michigan either.

I am from SC. I do not see how Huck can lose this state. If Huck loses this state, he is a complete and total failure as a politician. It is his state to lose. And Romney knows he can't win SC. When they had the debate here, christian organizations banded together to put out mailers to trash the mormon religion.

I'm sick of tired of religion + politics. Any one who plays that card - either using it to spook up votes or as an attack on another candidate's faith - is scum.

Huckabee can take his preaching and guitar playing back to Hope.

The label of "partisan" has been tossed around in P&N for years.

One thing great about the upcoming election is that the REAL partisan members of this forum are truly being exposed.

umm no body is even talking about Rudy as if he fell off the face of the planet .

He still leads the national polls and he could do very well in Fl and FL has more delegates than Iowa and New Hampshire put together.

Although it seems like McCain has become the favorite and I think he emerging as the 'safe' choice as in most likely to win in November.

I just don't see how he's not going to go broke between then and now and be in any position to compete in super tuesday with no momentum, no buzz, and no press.

^ I don't disagree with you... maybe he will keep pulling out of states until he runs out of them... good way to explain why he never wins anything at least.

I really hope Huckabee wins the nomination, because I can't imagine him winning it all. If he does the country would be a lot more messed up than I already thought.

If Huck wins we'll be the ones saying "There are no gays in our nation, we don't have that problem.". Sorry but the guy is a giant social step backwards IMHO.

It's slightly better then "We could be staying in Iraq for 1,000 years" - McCain or the looming Huck theocracy. At least Americans will benefit from it more so then the latter two.

The last thing this country needs is another save-the-world candidate from Hope, Arkansas. Huckabee might be compassionate, but he sure as hell ain't Conservative. He's another tax and spend liberal who just happens to be socially conservative.
