It has become so commonplace, when we get elected, we will do this...

Blah, you're running for office, some some cabal of people.

To me, saying "we" is weak and abdicates personal responsibility.

Recently, Scott Walker, a politician I support, really got a case of the "we's" when talking about the recall, and it annoyed the hell out of me.

I don't know why they do it, to project some false sense of strength or something, but it just comes off as lame.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing you support the recall of Scott Walker and that is really what annoys you. Personally, I care about what politicians DO and not what they SAY.

Pols are Democrats or Republicans and politicians are as a rule owned by one or the other party and it's therefore perfectly reasonable to them to speak for their own.

Sad that your hatred blinds you to what he said. He said he is a supporter of walker, so he is against the recall. So sad that you are so blind by hate that you only see enemies when it is a friend.

Some people are raised to think that the common use of "I" is akin to bragging or boasting. Peggy Noonan mentioned this in her book about the senior Bush and blamed it for the somewhat strange way his speeches sounded. It's not as if he never used the word, it's just that it made him feel uncomfortable.

He claims that. Just like every person who ever called into a talk show says 'I supported Bush, but... ' Its a pretty common tactic by those trying to justify their position. Perhaps he does, but I seriously doubt most people who support Walker are going to get annoyed by him saying 'We' instead of 'I' and be so annoyed by it to post on the Internet about it.

As I said, I watch the actions of people, not what they say.
