I figured something like this would happen sooner or later, but perhaps not this soon, considering the phone isn't even available yet. They're trying to hack/fool Touch ID, and have a bit of money to back it. A few thousand $ so far. Oh and some bitcoin.

There's no such thing as impenetrable security. As long as there's a will to hack it, it will get hacked.

But theoretically, you could reverse engineer the sensor and use THAT to steal someone's fingerprints, create a prosthetic finger using the subepidermal pattern, and it might work to break the security.
