Issues with VIA chipsets, should I go with the AMD platform, or upgrade to the KT133?

I'm having compatibility issues with my ASUS A7V KT133 chipset MoBo. It's having stability problems when coupled with my Creative Annihilator2 GTS, and either my Phillips Acoustic Edge or my SBLive. Not sure if it's an actual DMA problem or what, but I've tried about every version of the VIA 4in1 with a combo of detonantor drivers, along with disabling ACPI under WIN98 SE, upping my I/O V., and even tweaking some BIOS settings with WPCREDIT and WPCRSET. I am now at a standstill with the hardware topology I should follow. Should I get a new MoBo with the AMD chipset or return my video card and try another one? Issues are ranging from programs dropping speratically to complete and total lockups. My problems only occur under graphic intense programs, i.e. games. Have any of you heard of any of the same compatiblity issues with the AMD chipsets as we're seeing with the VIA chipsets? Just wondering what you thought............

And if you think the AMD chipset is a better route, what are some of the better boards out there using that chipset?

I did ditch the SBLive, am now using th Phillips, still having the problem. And the sound card is currently in slot 3, have alternated it before.
