Issues with VIA chipsets, should I go with the AMD platform, or upgrade to the KT133?

I'm having compatibility issues with my ASUS A7V KT133 chipset MoBo. It's having stability problems when coupled with my Creative Annihilator2 GTS, and either my Phillips Acoustic Edge or my SBLive. Not sure if it's an actual DMA problem or what, but I've tried about every version of the VIA 4in1 with a combo of detonantor drivers, along with disabling ACPI under WIN98 SE, upping my I/O V., and even tweaking some BIOS settings with WPCREDIT and WPCRSET. I am now at a standstill with the hardware topology I should follow. Should I get a new MoBo with the AMD chipset or return my video card and try another one? Issues are ranging from programs dropping speratically to complete and total lockups. My problems only occur under graphic intense programs, i.e. games. Have any of you heard of any of the same compatiblity issues with the AMD chipsets as we're seeing with the VIA chipsets? Just wondering what you thought............

And if you think the AMD chipset is a better route, what are some of the better boards out there using that chipset?

what bios revision do you use?

(i typed out a whole long responce, hehehe but then like a tard i hit the wrong button and lost it all and im to lazy to do it again)

so to sum up..
i love the a7v and the a7v133, problem with a7v is 100mhz bus with 12.5x multiplier means it is at the limit of what cpu's it can hold.

im currently waiting for more reviews of the a7v266 board, (kt266 chipset)
but as for right now i think the best option is amd 760

side note: as for my experience ive had no problem with the 3 a7v133 boards ive used. all used bios 1.04

Most of the AMD based mobo still use the VIA southbridge chip which appears to be causing bad file transfers with or without SB Live

Don't forget to look at power requirements. AMD and GeForce cards need 300 watt supply or bigger. Just a thought unless you are already powered up sufficiently

I don't think the via-sblive problem occurs with the kt-133. Have you checked for irq conflicts? How's the ventilation in your system, it isn't overheating is it?
