i got an mp3 player/pen drive from japan through ebay and i formatted it and i only use it for shoving files on that i need for work and school etc... but everynow and then i loose files... one time i rebooted while pen was in and lost contets of a full directory, and just now i had about 150 out of 256mb on my drive and i stick the thing in my pc to find that it is completely empty.. i am fuxored i guess...

SO just wondering if it is common for flash media to be unstable or what??? is this possibly just my foreign hardware, or is it common for such things to happen.. if so, i assume it has something to do with esd or somecrap...

thanks for any words
peace-

Its probably the make of your flash drive. Read this and find out which ones are the most reliable. I've had my Cruzer on a keyholder for a year and it has yet to fail me.

Hmmm. Interesting problem. When you formatted it, did you use FAT16? As far as I know, XP's FAT32 can create problems sometime. Hope this helps. Ta!

i was only able to chose FAT for my formatting.. as for the make of my drive, it doesnt say anything except for 'digital mp3 player....dvr' ...must be a hong kong cheapo.. :disgust:
