Issues with the internet.

This computer has windows 2000 pro on it. I plug it in and it gets an IP from the router. It can ping the router but when it does it gets wild ping times, sometimes 80 ms and the ms seem to be random. Also some times it can ping say yahoo.com and sometimes it can't. Sometimes it can browse the web and sometimes it can't.

What do you think is wrong with it? It can usually get to the router webpage but at the same time it won't even browse to an internet webpage even by using the ip.

Ok, so I didn't just remove the checkbox from tcp/ip, I totally removed it, how do I get it back? When I go to add protocol it doesn't list tcp/ip.

I presume your router is conected to a DSL or Cable modem? If so..in this order, Power off your modem, router then PC. Power you modem back up first after all lights are on, power up the router then power the PC back on. This is basically a soft reset and allows the modem and router to reaquire your internet IP address and the computer reaquires its local IP from the router. Also consider removing the router from the equation, just connect directly to the modem and see if the problem goes away. If this doesn't work you might consider a hard reset of the equipment. The modem and router have little buttons you push in that hard reset the devices back to factory defaults. Then you go back thru the setup of the devices again. Also..do make sure that your CAT 5 cable isnt defective. If all this fails you may want to try a uninstall and reinstall of your network adapter and if you have an old one laying around even using it to verify that your current adapter is ok.

Set a static DNS on your local or wireless whichever. Same issue after you've done the following, try to replace the winfix file in your operating system dude.
