when i 1st got my card i could run 3dmark fine, this was with the original drivers .....after installing different drivers i can no longer run the bench, i get booted out and lock up right after the 1 tests...i have tried to replace the new drivers with various diff ones, nothing helps....i can run the demo fine....i have tried to uninstall 3dmark and download another copy of it, this did nothing either.....i know 3dmark isnt a game, but not being able to run it bugs the sh*t out of me :D

No probs with my 8500. Of course, it's not currently o/ced and I'm using the 4.13.7206 drivers.
Try going back to these and default clockings.

With a K7S5A and XP1700+ I get 2001 marks of 7955, so I don't get too arsed about o/cing this rig! ;)

WA261, Maybe your DX 8.0 file is corrupted? I know you kneed it to run 3DMark2001. It should be on your driver disk from Ati. Just an idea.

That means you'll have to send your card back cause its defective. :D

Simple answer to your question, actually you answered your own question. go back to the original driver. make sure you clean up those old files in your Windows directory.

Can you run any games? Or other 3d apps? And are you overclocking your system. If a problem is going to crop-up it's going to be with the stress of 3DMark2001.

I think you're O/C your Radeon way too much there. One thing to let every O/Cer know is that sometimes O/Cing will damage your core or another word is shorten the life of your card. One last try is to reinstall your 3Dmark.

as i stated above....i have reinstalled 3dmark, and i have also set the card back to default clock speed....i am not worried about damage, as every other game runs sweet
