issues with printing maps

why is when I configure google maps to look exactly the way I want it (i've zoomed in right on the street), when I go to print it, it looks entirely jacked up. sometimes the "path" is missing, the resolution is worse. This last map I printed showed up 1/4 on 1 page, and then reprinted itself on another and the freeway was of a different resolution than the rest of the streets. I've had similar problems with mapquest. Different printers. it seems the only consistent way I can print something that looks decent is if I dont' zoom in.

I feel like I should be doing a print screen instead of "printing".

not sure, i get the same thing with google maps. it looks like they blow up a 160x160 section of the map to cover the entire page, completely worthless.

printed maps from local.live.com seem to work best for me.

Dumb question but are you just printing it by doing something like file>print or are you clicking on the print option within Google maps?

Also did you try maybe using another browser, such as if you're using Firefox did you try IE?

Lastly how about trying Google Earth if none of the above applies?

with regards with how I'm printing. I tried it both ways.

haven't tried with IE.

Google Earth was way too cumbersome... also tried that. found it very slow.

I tried MS live and that seemed to work the best. I tried it before actually and I didn't like what I saw but after a 2nd go around it actually is pretty nice.
