issues with NTFS file system corruption

Run System File Checker (SFC.EXE)
Click to Start/Run and type the following command on the Run line:
SFC /scannow

Notice there is a space after SFC, before /scannow.
Hit OK.
SFC will then look for possible conflicts caused by incorrect versions of dynamic link libraries and other important system files.

Run Chkdsk
Click to Start/Run and in the run box, type
CHKDSK C: /f

notice there is a space after C:, before /F
hit OK. Repeat for any/all drives or partitions on your system.

You are not alone. You have the infamous Nforce 4 Data Corruption issue.

The MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum uses a nforce 3 based chipset.

What type of RAM are you using (brand-model-timings, etc...)?

buzz killer, lol. Whoops! Back to the drawing board.

Edit: OP, even though you are not OC'ing, you might want to try moving the SATA drives. Here's one of a couple of blurbs I saw about the 4 SATA headers available on your board.

"The MSI K8N Neo 2 Plat will not lock on SATA headers 1&2 and will cause data corruption if you have drives hooked up and are ocing. Headers 3&4 will lock, so if you are only using 2 SATA drives you will be fine. However, if you need more than 2 devices hooked up, you are screwed."

thanks for the replies.
