Issues with new Viewsonic VP930b LCD?

I just bought this monitor, and it's definitely going back because of a dead pixel. There's another problem I have a question about though. When I move side to side I notice a grid pattern that I have a much harder time seeing on other LCD monitors. Is this common and does anybody know what I'm talking about?
