Issues with new Radeon 8500 card... need help!!

I just got a retail Radeon 8500 and am having issues all over. I installed the new drivers from ATI (3286) and still no help. My issues are plentiful. First off, my start menu is acting funny. When opening my start menu, all the text is blurred. As I run my pointer through it, they clear up to normal. Also, games just seem to be so blurry. Am I configuring something wrong or is there more to this card than plug-n-play?

One other issue is that in 3dmark2001 the card gets mixed results each time i run it. One time it will be off the charts at up to 170fps, but the next it can barely squeeze out 50fps. What is up with that?

Has anyone had these problems or am i just having bad luck here?

Sounds like you did not remove all the old drivers from your last video card to me. Also you might have some sort of overclocking utility still active, probably one not written for the Radeon 8500.

Sound about right? Need more info.

Yeh something is funky with old drivers. I had some of those problems when I didn't fully uninstall my geforce drivers. Anyhow I am a format freak and I clear out my HD quite often. So I just formatted, threw on XP and installed the 3286 drivers. Works flawlessly.
