DUDE, I GOT A DELL! Just got my 8600 last thurs, and I love this thing. I got in on that deal with the 500$ off w/ 200 MIR. It's my first laptop. Love the widescreen, long battery life, and nice wireless range. If i'm not doing much on it, the battery icon tells me i'll have like 5.5hrs left on a full charge, sweet.
Inspirion i8600c: P-M 1.6 dothan, WXGA, 256mb sodimm (ordered 256 more), Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo, 40gb hd, Dell Wireless 1350
Here are some issues i'm having...
1. Static/beeping sounds
When moving windows around like maximizing, scrolling, etc... I get slight beeping/static sounds coming out of my speakers. It also happens sometimes when i'm not doing anything too. I'm not sure what it is, but I have had similar problems on my desktop before, but I fixed that by muting the input line. I've tried re-installing the Sigmatel drivers off the Dell site, but that made no difference.
2. Resolution
Apparantly the resolution on the Welcome Screen, and Log On are not the same as my main desktop res. So when I come out of standby, and put my pw in, Windows has to re-adjust the resolution thus causing icons, and windows on my desktop to be moved, re-sized, or out of place of where they were before. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?
3. Laptop temps
I installed the handy FanGUI program. I was wondering what are the safe, and typical temps of an 8600 for things such as the CPU, GPU, DIMM, and HD.
