Issues with my 7970

Had this card for a little under two weeks now but been having some issues with it already. I've had my computer crash in two different occasions. One was in game, the other i was just watching videos. Don't know if the card is defective, or if I'm having driver issues or what but I need help. This is with everything stock. I haven't tampered one bit yet. My drivers are all up to date. My power supply is the Corsair TX850 power supply. This is all on Windows 7. Any ideas?

You need to post a lot more information. What kind of crash, back to desktop, blue screen (what error), black screen? What do you have for motherboard/processor?

The first crash I was watching a video on windows media player and then everything just froze and rebooted. The second crash I was playing Sonic Generations and I got the blue screen but don't remember what the error said. I have a Biostar T-power X58 with an Intel Core I7 920 cpu running at stock speeds.

What power supply do you have? What does the Windows error log say?

First thing i would do is either put that videocard in a friends PC or a Spare PC and if it continues to crash then return it "rma" ASAP...

If the card works fine on another PC then its something to do with your other hardware or a software issue

You can try a format and fresh install of windows or try going back to the old videocard (or another card of some kind ) for a few days and see if its stable.

Its very common for a PC to become unstable when introducing a new component, this could be due to extra heat from the new component or power draw, driver conflict or corrupt windows another part in your pc may have been damaged due to the new component.

It could also be the 12v rail the videocard use's from the power supply.. if this was never used befor it may not be working right....

So many reasons, all you can do is elimiate each possibility one by one starting with the videocard.

I don't have an extra pc I can use to test this out. I haven't tried reformating and installing Windows again. Maybe I didn't fully remove the old drivers? My old card was working great and didn't have these errors. I don't think it was the power supply since the GTX 460 I previously had was running perfectly.

Yes. I had a GTX 460 before i got this bad boy. I did the whole getting rid of the old drivers through safe mode before i got this card.

Heres what i have so far. Looks like I've been having errors almost every time I use my pc. From the 21-30 it looks like my pc had a video hardware error everytime i used my pc. I've looked at all the errors and they seem all the same to me. Heres one I copy and pasted.

the drivers are still young... give it time... i have three of these puppies which i'm currently doing a burn in before i put them under water... two have been running 24/7 oc to 1125 underload at 1000mV for a week now with no problem so far. I'm running a PC&C 760 watt. once i switch out the psu, i'll be popping the third in for a burn in.

one is xfx, one is a visiontek, and one is a sapphire.
