Issues with my 360

Hey guys,
I've only had my 360 since Christmas, but I've run into a few issues and I'm not sure if they are normal or not.

First, the box sometimes freezes on me for short periods of time. It's never happened while I'm actually playing, but it's happened on the menu screens for COD4. Usually when I hit "Find a Game". Once, I gave up after about 60 seconds and rebooted, but several times, it's frozen for 20 or 30 seconds, then seems to be fine. Some of these times, I was still able to hit the xbox button and have the console come up, so it seemed like it was just the game, not the whole system. But a couple of times, it's been the whole system and I couldn't do anything.

The other issue is either MS Live or network related. Sometimes, I'll get messages like "An Active Network Connection is Required", "Unable to join session", or other connection type issues. Usually, I just try again and it goes back to working fine. Sometimes it takes a couple tries. I know Live was having issues, but as of last night, I'm still having the problem intermittently and I thought the Live issues were supposed to have been resolved. I'm connected through a wireless gaming adapter from Linksys. I'd suspect my own network, but I don't seem to have any problems streaming music from my PC. I can go wired if it will help, but it will be a PITA because I'll need to run cable in my walls to get to my router.

Any idea if these sound like issues with my wireless network or if they sound more like Live issues?

Not entirely familiar with the 360, but these actually sound like the same problem and it likely is due to a wireless network or the network hardware itself. Is it possible for you to just buy a cable, running it just through your doors and hallways and see if that helps before running a cable through the walls?

Yeah, it would definitely be a good idea to try that. It would really suck to take all the time to run the cable and find out it didn't make any difference. Unfortunately, I'm going to need at least 50 ft.

My PC is on wireless though and I don't have any issues playing MOH:Airborne online. So the network itself appears to be fine. But it's possible that the gaming adapter is flaky.

As Injury said, these both sound like symptom's of the Xbox Live issues that have been going on for the last few weeks now. At peak times, if I bring up the in-game dash or search for a game, the system temporarily freezes and will recover in anywhere from 5-30 seconds.

I think your problems will work themselves out whenever MS gets its act together.

Believe it or not, the PC was having quite a few issues in multiplayer mode too. COD4 was a bigger hit than they thought it was going to be and I don't think the server support anywhere was ready for it.

I haven't been on Live much since I'm still on winter break and I have to play over an EV-DO connection with ping times ranging from 150-300, but Halo 3 has been fine for me lately. I wasn't on at all the week it crapped out initally, but I've been on the last 4 days of so and had no problems.

From what I gather COD4 still has been having issues with Live, but I'm guessing that that could be at least partially the fault of COD4 itself. I don't know about you guys, but COD4 has always seems to have a buggy UI (the game itself seems to run beautifully).

I haven't been on COD4 is a month since it doesn't handle high pings as well as Halo.

i had the exact same issues as you for the last couple days...I just turned on my 360 a couple mins ago and saw the red rings =( man this sucks
I've had this unit since launch
