So I just bought a Geforce 2080 and realized I needed to update my Windows 10 pro to the latest build in order for it to work. I decided instead I would just do a clean install, do all the updates and hopefully all would be good. After the last updates, I got my wish and it recognized the card.

However, now, I'm noticing a bunch of issues with the latest build. My Chrome is painfully slow and at least half the time not even responding. Geforce Experience won't open at all. My computer as a whole has become slow. I'm noticing the number of windows processes has gone from high 20's, low 30's in the previous build, to mid 80's. I have a 8700k, fiber internet, 16GB of 4133mhz GSkill ram, and this just doesn't seem to make sense on a clean Windows, fully updated install. What am I missing?

What version of windows did you use? Is it from last fall or is it a preview copy? One preview copy had that issue.

However for the number of processes issue, a total number of 80 does not seem like a big issue. 20 or 30 is actually weird. Thruout the history of Windows 10 microsoft did state that they are spliting System processes into multiple processes. As long as the processes that the OP is stating are system processes that are not duplicates of each other, I do not think the number of processes is a big issue.

The issue regarding GeForce experience is a very well known issue, for when it is installed by users and not by the OEM. Basically, if the OEM of your computer has not provided the GeForce Experience when you bought it, during any Windows Update or installation, Windows could cause some issues. This happened to me too when I was doing a feature update to 1809 on my laptop.

To fix the issue, you must first disable the setting for Windows to automatically download and install the latest driver version. After that, go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver for the Nvidia GPU. Then go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest driver. During driver installation, make sure you do custom installation. Make sure that you select clean installation, and have all options selected to install. After installation is complete, restart the computer, GeForce Experience should work.

Thanks for the responses, I did try everything that you suggested like uninstalling drivers, reinstalling them with a clean install, the same things the Nvidia support person told me to try and it still never worked. The only thing that did after days of trying everything was to create a new Windows user account, putting it to admin and it then finally worked. Chrome also works flawlessly too under the new account. Weird stuff, but I'm just glad there was a fix.
