Issues with IE (won't close)

I am working on a customer's computer and I am stumped. The IE window will not close once opened. It makes a ding and nothing else happens. They had IE5 and I upgraded it to 6 and it is still doing the same thing. Also I noticed that tab does not work in IE and neither does the delete key. They said this has happened once before and the guy formatted/reinstalled but I'm sure there's a way to fix this.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know asap.

and i am getting a ton of active x errors in IE. I'm about to install opera or netscape and see if I have similar issues.

i tried running several virus scanners but they can't find any viruses.

Don't be so sure, especially with win98

I'd say this is what you have to do now. After all, Microsoft did say IE is an integral part of the system, no?
