Issues with first time build

You'll need to set the hdd to 'master' and the DVD to 'slave' and then plug the hdd into the socket at the end of the cable and the DVD into the socket in the middle of the cable and of course the other end to the MB.

Just wondering, did you have the hdd left over from a previous build?

Nope, I made a mistake ordering the hdd, I meant to order the SATA version of the drive, but I didn't read the description carefully enough, and I'd rather not wait another week to get the SATA version instead.

edit: I don't quite understand the master and slave jumpers, can you please explain how to do this? Thanks.

On the back of the hdd and DVD you will see a set of pins generally marked with CS (cable select) MA (master) and SL (slave). Move the jumper to their respective positions and connect as previously directed.

Thanks guys, I think I might wait until tomorow to finish this build. I also have another problem, where can I find out where all these little cables go? Like the led cables for the case and such? I looked through the manual, but I can't find it.

The system panel connectors are detailed on page 2-30 of the mainboard manual (at least the most recent PDF version I downloaded.) Various other jumpers are detailed elsewhere. You really should go through the manual start to finish so you can be sure you didn't miss a set of jumpers or something else.

Question about my power supply. It's a 450 watt Fortron, with the main motherboard connector, I noticed a single pin is missing and the wire, is this normal, and my motherboard needs 24 wires, how do I go about doing this?

It's normal. It's for a voltage level that is not supplied with most PSUs these days, as most computers don't make use of it (-3.3V).

Not sure about the lack of the extra pins. Modern mainboards use a 20+4 pin connector, the extra 4 pins provide extra power. The system may not boot or may be unstable if it doesn't have that part of the plug. You can buy adapters to let you use another plug on it. (Note that this is not the same as the P4 12V 4-pin connector which you also need to have plugged in. That one has a clip on it because it's intended to be plugged in separately, and only has 2 wires of one color, 2 wires of another.)

Uhh. It's generally seen as rude to edit your original post and completely remove everything. Now nobody has any idea what your questions were in the first place. Personally I don't like original posts being edited even to add new information later.

Sorry, never knew that before, I'll keep that in mind for the future.
